Welcome!

We are based in the Chevy Chase / Bethesda / Kensington region of Maryland and provide opportunities for boys from ages 11-17 to experience the outdoors, learn outdoor skills, provide community service, and grow through leadership experience in a well-structured program. We've been around since 1919 and our sponsoring organization is The Westlake-Troop 8 BSA Memorial Foundation. William Westlake was a Troop 8 Scoutmaster for 35 years and bequeathed his estate for the benefit of youth organizations in the Washington DC area. For more information about us, including our history, our Girls Troop 8, and the Westlake Foundation, please visit our public website. This operational website is for our BT8 members and access is largely restricted.

Scouting for Food - Collection (11/2-11/9) and Truck Loading (11/9)

Posted on Oct 25 2024 - 1:29am

Volunteers needed to collect food donations from their neighbors (11/2-11/9) and help load the truck (11/9).

Door-to-Door Campaign (11/2-11/9): Interested scouts should distribute post-it notes to their neighbors' doors by Nov 2nd. Post-it notes invite neighbors to put their donations in a bag outside on a certain date, when the scout will retrieve the donated food. Scouts should write the collection date on the post-it note before distributing. Scouts decide which date to collect but all donations need to be delivered to a food truck on Saturday, Nov 9th. Scouts going on the camping trip should make arrangements for someone else to deliver their collection to the food truck at Holy Redeemer (11/9, 10 am to 1 pm).
